Very important September 4th event!

Hi Folks!

This is Aidan writing to say thank you for any amount of involvement (even just staying up-to-date on info) in the community efforts to slow down and stop the proposed Transco-Williams Southeast Supply Enhancement Project. I am reaching out now with details on a very important in-person event coming up in a few weeks!

On Thursday, September 4th, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) will be holding a public hearing at the Kernersville Municipal Council Chambers beginning at 6 pm. NCDEQ is responsible for issuing an essential water permit called a 401 permit.  The hearing is open to public comments on the proposed SSEP regarding the impact it will have on North Carolina waterways.

The NoSSEP Coalition is organizing a Rally to Protect Clean Water for those opposing the project ahead of this public hearing. You will find more information in the graphic attached below. If you plan to attend, please wear red & black, NoSSEP swag, or be prepared to get some from organizers day-of! We will have pins, stickers, (potentially hats), and signs/posters for folks in attendance.

The Rally will begin at Harmon Park at 4:30 with a statement on why we're gathered and multiple speakers, including impacted land owners, environmental leaders, and more, involved in the work to stop this proposed project. The Piedmont Raging Grannies will also be in attendance! We will then make our way over to the Kernersville Municipal Council Chambers at 5:30. Anyone interested in making a public comment to the NCDEQ must sign up on site at 5:30 to comment.

Here is a link to a document with talking points for 401 public comments developed by the NoSSEP coalition: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UdmRNyEsCpmg56VNR3KsqP7uRJqkw2USRcjZf1_WNQ8/edit?usp=sharing

For more information, please visit nossep.org. In addition, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to aidan@hawriver.org. Thank you very much! We Will Win!
