Film: State of Change: Living with Water

On Thursday, August 7, we will be showing the PBS film, "State of Change: Living with Water”. This film explores how NC communities are returning waterways to a natural state to address the impacts of climate change. Stories include how the Battleship North Carolina modified its marshy surroundings to adapt to rising sea levels, how Conserving Carolina is working to restore floodplains in Western NC, and how the Coharie Indian Tribe is reconnecting with the river they’ve lived on for centuries.

“BURNED: Protecting The Protectors”

Panel discussions to address the ongoing fight against PFAS.

Burned is a collaboration between Ethereal Films, the Last Call Foundation, Footpath Pictures, and producer Mark Ruffalo. The true story of how the spouse of a firefighter revealed significant exposure to forever chemicals affecting the fire community.

“NOT ON THIS LAND: The Fight Against The Atlantic Coast Pipeline”

Directed by Christopher Landry, the film showcases impacted community members who helped defeat the fracked-gas Atlantic Coast Pipeline. 

“ANGEL OF ALABAMA”

Angel of Alabama: This film features a mid-career investigator returns home in rural Alabama to support her mother’s failing health. Amidst unusually rampant disease, she becomes a caretaker for her community until an unexpected diagnosis launches her investigation to heal her county. Her years of work have led to a permanent water solution for her community against the dangers of PFAS forever chemicals.
